Financial Planner, Jamie Tocher will be a guest speaker at the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) North East and Cumbria Branch meeting on Thursday 8th May.

Jamie will be discussing the options available in investing personal injury compensation and protecting income and assets using trusts. Jamie specialises in investment, tax and wealth management and regularly advises trustees of private trusts including personal injury trusts.

In addition, James Marwick, Chancery and Trusts barrister at Trinity Chambers, will explore the implications of SM v HM (2011) EWHC B30 (Court of Protection) and in particular whether it is ever, and if so in what circumstances, appropriate for the Court of Protection to authorise the creation of a personal injury trust as a means of administering assets, rather than the appointment of a Deputy under s 16 of the Mental Capacity Act 2005.
